Hello everyone... this time I want to tell you about my experience looking for a new place for birding spot and the location is about 2 hours one way by car, but the results obtained are in accordance with expectations because there are several endemic birds that I can find easily... (However, I am a bit disappointed because I have not been able to document it into the latest photo list at this time!!) 😔😔
Well, my story begins on Saturday (July 28-2025), I used a car and arrived there at 10.30am and after that started exploring for about 1 hour by walking into the forest with some friends, then returned to the car and went home at 11.30am because it started to rain. So I thought maybe for the first time it's okay and my next plan, I will come back again next week to looking for the other endemic birds because at that time I only found and saw some endemic birds that were so close to where I was standing under the trees and branches, such as: Biak Paradise Kingfisher (more than 2 birds), Biak Monarch (2 birds), Biak Gerygone (6 birds), Biak Coucal (1 bird), Biak Pitta (1 bird and the other 2 birds were only heard from a distance), Geelvink Pygmy Parrot (2 birds), and Long-tailed Starling (about 8 birds in 1 tree). In addition, I also found and observed some other common birds, such as: Hooded Butcherbird, Sahul Sunbird, Black Sunbird, Red-capped Flowerpecker, Metallic Starling, Oriental Dollar bird, Rainbow Bee-eater, Amboyna Cuckoo-dove, and Metallic Starling.
Hopefully on my second trip, I can find more endemic species to add to my new birding spots list in Biak Island. So, I can easily bring some clients to see them in the wild and hope the weather is fine because I don't have to wait for another time to go back there and make sure how many species can be found and seen there 😁😁
